It’s the same values-discovery work I do with private clients, but in a simple, reflective format you can do in your own time.

You know that feeling when something tiny just tips you over the edge? An email that shouldn’t matter. A comment that shouldn’t sting. A decision that shouldn’t feel so… heavy.

And yet, you know what comes next — the tight chest, the racing mind, the familiar urge to withdraw, or appease, or just power through. And afterwards, you wonder: “Why is this bothering me so much?”, “Why does this keep happening?”, or “What’s wrong with me?”

Nothing is wrong with you.

But something
is happening.

As a former BBC screenwriter and story editor, I spent years looking for the moment a character's true motivation shows itself — the tiny tells, the emotional reveals, the places where meaning 'leaks' out.

And humans?

We do this too.

Every time you overreact, shrink back, people-please, or feel that internal “ugh,” your core values are speaking.

Not politely.

Not quietly.

But clearly — if you know how to read the signals.

Most of us don’t.

We dismiss the signs as stress, sensitivity, or personal failure. We try harder. We push through. We "cope".

Until we can’t.

What Matters Most™ begins right there — in that quiet discomfort, in those repeating patterns, in the moments where your inner world is trying to get your attention.

Because underneath the overwhelm, the anxiety, or the endless conflict… is a story.

Your story.

And it’s trying to tell you what matters most.

Hi, I'm Sarah Evans

I didn’t start my career in coaching.

I started it in story.

For over twenty-five years I worked as a screenwriter, story editor and university lecturer, teaching writers how to create believable characters — the kind whose choices make sense, whose reactions feel real, and whose motivations run deeper than the dialogue on the page.

And somewhere along the way, it struck me:

We are all characters in our own stories…

but most of us have no idea what’s really driving us.

We feel overwhelmed, reactive, anxious, or conflicted — and we tell ourselves we’re the problem.

But from my years in screenwriting, you learn something essential: A character never reacts “for no reason.”

There is always a core value beneath the surface guiding the behaviour.

The same is true for you.

Before I created The Values Fingerprint®, I lived through my own years of serious misalignment in a toxic workplace — with moments where I pushed through, powered on, and ignored every internal signal until my body and emotions forced me to stop.

I thought I was failing. But really, I just didn’t understand myself yet.

When I finally connected the dots — between values, emotions, triggers, boundaries, decisions — everything changed.

That’s why I created What Matters Most™.

To take the years of storytelling, lived experience, and values methodology I now teach…

and offer you the opportunity to take this very first step in a way that feels calm, safe, and actually doable.

You’re not really lost.

You just haven’t had the language for what’s been going on underneath — the values that have been quietly steering you this whole time.

This is where that starts to change.

Most people don’t go looking for “help with values.” They go looking for relief — from the moments that feel too hard.

On the surface, it's 'just' daily life — but with an added emotional weight that somehow feels way bigger than it should. It can often look like:

• That one email from a colleague that leaves you spiralling for hours.

• A team meeting where someone talks over you and you shrink back… then beat yourself up later.

• A client pushing your boundaries “just a little,” and you saying yes even though every part of you said no.

• Replaying a conversation from days ago because something about it just didn’t feel right.

• Feeling physically anxious before seeing that “certain person”, even though you can’t point to anything obvious.

• Walking away from a conflict thinking, “Why am I the only one bothered by this?”

These aren’t big 'dramatic' moments. They’re simply everyday moments that hit you harder than you expect.

Inside, it turns into the same frustrating questions:

“Why does this bother me so much?”

“Why do I keep ending up in these toxic situations?”

“Why do I always freeze, fight, or over-explain?”

“Why can’t I just let things go like everyone else?”

“Why do I feel responsible for keeping the peace?”

You know something's off — but you can’t name it.

And when you can’t name it, it’s easy to create a story around it that assumes YOU are the problem.

Here’s the part no one teaches us:

You shouldn’t have to armour up every morning just to get through your day.
You shouldn’t have to
rationalise away your reactions.
You shouldn’t have to
burn out to realise you’ve been out of alignment.
And you
definitely shouldn’t feel ashamed for caring “too much.”

But that’s what happens when you’ve lost touch with your core values — the drivers that uniquely connect you to everything in your world.

They’re not abstract ideals.

They’re your personal GPS.

And when that GPS is ignored, overridden, or drowned out by expectations, everything feels heavier and harder than it should.

The problem isn’t you.

The problem is that no one has shown you how to interpret the signals your values have been sending all along.

That’s exactly where What Matters Most™ begins.

Because what do you do when everything feels “a bit too much,” and you can’t work out why?

Well...

You don’t push harder.

You don’t make yourself smaller.

And you definitely don’t ignore the signals.

You learn how to read them.

Your emotional reactions — the overload, the anxiety, the “why is this bothering me so much?” moments — aren’t random.

They all point back to something deeper: your CORE VALUES.

They’re your personal GPS.

They’ve been guiding you all along.

You just haven’t had the map.

What Matters Most™ is where that changes.

What Is It?

It’s a simple, story-led video workshop in five steps that helps you:

• Make sense of your emotional patterns

• Spot the moments where your values are being triggered

• Understand the deeper “why” behind your behaviour

• And begin to uncover the five core values quietly steering your life

Not in an abstract, choose-from-a-list way.

In a grounded, emotionally intelligent way that feels natural, human, and honest.

This is the exact first step I take every client through — leaders, managers, founders, HR directors, entrepreneurs — anyone who knows they’re meant to feel more aligned than they currently do.

And now it’s here for you, in a format you can explore at your own pace, in your own way…

without pressure, judgment, or overwhelm.

Because when you can finally see what’s been underneath your reactions, you can start moving through your life with clarity instead of confusion.

With confidence instead of second-guessing.

That’s what this first step gives you.

What's Inside

Video Workshop

A calm, story-led session where I guide you through the five core steps of the values discovery process — the same one I use with my coaching clients.

Benefit: You finally understand the deeper “why” behind your reactions, patterns, boundaries, and emotional triggers.

Why it matters: When you can read your emotions as signals rather than flaws, everything starts to make sense.

Audio Download

Download and take the teaching with you — on a walk, on your commute, or while making a cup of tea.

Benefit: You can revisit the insights as often as you need to, in whatever way feels most natural.

Why it matters: Repetition deepens clarity. Hearing something again, in a calmer moment, helps the pieces land.

Personal Workbook

A beautifully structured set of prompts, reflections, and exercises that help you capture your patterns, stories, emotional signposts, and emerging values.

Benefit: You don’t just watch the workshop — you apply it. The workbook becomes a map of what matters most to you.

Why it matters: This is the beginning of your personal GPS — a clear, grounded reference point you’ll return to again and again.

Online Reflection Call

An gentle, supportive conversation with me to talk through your discoveries, ask questions, and get clarity on what you’ve found.

Benefit: You get personalised guidance without pressure — just space to reflect and be heard.

Why it matters: This isn’t a sales call. It’s a grounding call. Most people say this is where the work “lands” and starts to feel real.

Why These Pieces Work Together

This isn’t another “pick your top five values” exercise.

It’s a carefully designed combination of:

• Story

• Psychology

• Reflection

• Practical guidance

And helps you uncover the deeper truth beneath your reactions — to start living from a place of alignment rather than exhaustion.

You’ll finish with a clearer understanding of yourself, language for what you’ve been feeling, and the beginnings of your own Values Fingerprint®.

How it Works

You don’t need a full day, a quiet retreat, or a stack of journaling prompts to begin this work.

You just need a clear starting point - and a guide (me!).

There are 3 simple steps:

Watch the Video Workshop

Get comfortable — headphones in, door closed, or during a quiet moment.

I’ll take you through the full Values Discovery process step by step, using real stories and examples so everything feels grounded and relatable.

What you’ll notice: Things that once felt confusing suddenly start to make sense.

Follow the Discovery Workbook

Use the prompts to track the moments that matter: the reactions, the patterns, the emotional “tells.” This is where your early insights start taking shape on the page.

What you’ll notice: Themes emerge. Language appears. A picture of what drives you begins to form.

Book your Reflection Call

Once you’ve had time to absorb your discoveries, you’ll book your call.

It’s a gentle, supportive space for questions, clarity, and grounding — not a sales conversation.

What you’ll notice: Everything settles. Your values start to feel like something you can trust — your personal GPS.

That’s it. Three simple steps.

No pressure.

No pushing.

Just a clear, safe way to understand yourself more deeply — in less than an hour.

And in a way that actually sticks.

Why This is Different

There are plenty of worksheets and corporate exercises out there that ask you to “pick your top five values.”

But that’s not what this is.

Most values exercises stay at the surface.

They give you a list of words.

They don’t give you understanding.

What Matters Most™ is different — because we begin with your real life.

It starts with:

The moments that overwhelm you

The conversations that stay with you

The reactions you can’t quite explain

The patterns you’re tired of repeating

These aren’t inconveniences.

They’re clues.

And this workshop teaches you how to read them.

It’s grounded in story — because that’s how humans make meaning.

Before I created The Values Fingerprint®, I spent over twenty-five years as a BBC screenwriter, story editor and then lecturer, studying what makes people tick:

The motivations beneath the behaviour.

The values beneath the conflicts.

The invisible forces that shape every decision a character makes.

Humans work the same way.

When you understand your story, you understand yourself.

It’s rooted in psychology and there’s no pressure to be positive, polished, or “sorted.” This is calm, honest work. It’s practical and applicable, not abstract.

You won’t leave with jargon.

You’ll leave with language — your language — for what matters most to you, why certain situations hit you so hard, and where your boundaries actually are.

And your core values don’t change.

Once you truly understand your five core values — your Values Fingerprint® — you don’t need to rediscover them again.

They’re not trends, phases, or seasons.

They are your psychological constants — the 'saved locations' in your personal GPS that give you a clarity you carry for life.

It’s designed to be a first step that stands on its own.

You don’t need to be in crisis. You don’t need to overhaul your life. You just need a clear, grounded way to understand the signals your values have been sending all along.

That’s what makes this different.

And that’s why it works.

Imagine How Things Could Change

When you finally understand what drives you — not as abstract words, but as the deeper story running underneath your life — your whole world shifts.

And the best part?

Once you know your five core values — your unique Values Fingerprint® — you don’t lose them.

They don’t shift. They don’t expire.

You gain a clarity you can rely on for years, through every chapter of your life.

You stop second-guessing yourself.

Decisions feel clearer...

You can sense what’s right for you — not because you’ve become “more confident,” but because your values now give you a solid reference point.

Sarah's own story...

"Once I understood that honesty was my top value, the constant knot in my stomach over those dishonest workplace emails finally made sense."

It wasn’t 'weakness.'

It was values misalignment.

That kind of clarity changes everything.

Your emotional reactions become readable — almost predictable.

Anxiety reduces...

Instead of spiralling into anxiety, you can confidently say:

“Oh… this is hitting my value of honesty/autonomy/connection. That’s why I feel this.”

Client experience...

Charity sector leader who’d lived with lifelong anxiety — said this was the first time in her adult life that she felt "calm inside her own skin."

Because for the first time, she wasn’t fighting her emotions.

She was understanding them.

Your boundaries strengthen — without becoming harsh.

People-pleasing stops...

When you know exactly what you’re protecting, saying “no” becomes less emotional.

You feel empowered.

Client experience...

Many describe it as “a weight being lifted” or “finally having the language to say what I need without feeling guilty.”

Your relationships feel easier — at home and at work.

Responses become easier...

Because you’re no longer reacting to people…

You’re responding to what matters.

Client experience...

Clients tell me every month that understanding their values helped them stop taking everything so personally.

They communicate more clearly, and avoid the emotional potholes they used to fall into again and again.

You feel more like yourself again.

You truly know who you are...

Not the version of you that performs.

Not the version that “copes.”

The one underneath.

Client experience...

It’s the same moment clients describe as:

“Everything finally made sense.”

“Like someone stitched my past together.”

“I can see myself clearly for the first time.”

This is what happens when your personal GPS comes into focus.

You move through life with quiet, grounded confidence.

Not louder.

Not braver.

Just clearer.

The kind of clarity that lets you walk away from situations that aren’t good for you — and step into ones that finally are.

And it starts with something simple:

Understanding what matters most.

What People Are Saying

"What I have learned about myself is game-changing in having a deeper understanding of my past and how I react, feel and think in different situations… It gives you the tools to improve how you manage your life experience going forward, to understand yourself in a deeper way that helps you to grow [and] challenge the otherwise negative self-talk. You make empowering decisions to work towards a more balanced, more positive and happier lifestyle. It can open new doors and experiences." (EM)

Senior Leader, Charity Sector

"If you are wondering why you don't get on with someone, or why certain things trip you up, or why certain things really stress you out and annoy you, or certain people just hit those buttons… I really, really recommend this workshop. I work in management consultancy, and I work with core values a lot, but I have never come across the incredible intellect, creativity, energy and passion that Sarah uses with her work." (HG)

MD, Compassionate Leaders Management Consultancy

"It’s like a personal navigation system and when I feel rocked or lost in a situation—I go back to those five main stars in my constellation and find my true north again, and understanding, and relief. It’s like coming home again.

The other gift of this work is that I’m now aware of what those truths might be for other people. I'm more generous especially when there’s conflict with someone, because I know their values are in play, and I’m curious wondering what they might be?

At 65 I only wish I’d known this about myself decades ago—so much time wasted giving myself grief. I wish everyone knew their core values—when you know what you need to navigate the world, so much more is available." (BB)

Who This Is For

What Matters Most™ is for you if:

You’re tired of feeling “too reactive” — even though you hold it together for everyone else.

On the outside you look capable, steady, competent.

But inside, certain situations hit you harder than they “should,” and you don’t fully know why.

You’ve tried mindset tools, boundaries, journaling, coaching… but nothing has created lasting change.

You’ve done the work. You’ve read the books. You’ve tried the strategies.

And yet the same patterns keep looping. This is the missing layer: the values driving those patterns.

You’ve reached a point in life where you know something needs to shift — you just don’t know what. Maybe it’s work. Maybe relationships. Maybe your sense of purpose.

You don’t want a dramatic reinvention.

You just want clarity — the kind that helps you make the next right decision without feeling overwhelmed or anxious.

You’ve lived through a toxic workplace, draining team dynamics, or emotionally unsafe environments.

You’re still carrying some of the stress from those years — even if you’ve left.

This workshop helps you understand why those environments were so damaging to you specifically, and how to prevent it from happening again.

You’re in the “midlife shift”: reassessing what you want, what you’re willing to tolerate, and who you’re becoming.

Your priorities have changed.

Your tolerance has changed.

Your internal landscape has changed.

You want language and clarity to guide your next chapter.

You’re a leader, founder, or professional who’s lost touch with yourself under the weight of responsibility.

You want to lead, parent, partner, or work in a way that feels true to you — not performative, not reactive, and not at the expense of your wellbeing.

You want a calm, self-led way to understand yourself without pressure, jargon, or digging into trauma.

This isn’t therapy. It’s not a personality test.

It’s not a corporate values exercise.

It’s a grounded, story-based process that meets you exactly where you are.

What Matters Most™ is not for people who:

Want a quick “pick your top 5 values” worksheet.

Want therapy, crisis support, or trauma processing.

Prefer purely logical or purely spiritual frameworks.

Are looking for business strategy, branding, or leadership training (this comes later).

Want someone else to tell them who they are.

This is for people ready to understand themselves with honesty, gentleness, and clarity.
